GA-20 Signature Amp
Out of the blue last November, we decided to relocate from Austin to Nashville. Around February we started packing.
During that process I began dreaming about the new shop and ordered a GA-20 poster. I always loved this band and how we share the same passion for all the great Chicago Blues artists from back in the day.
A couple of days later I reached out to Matthew Stubbs to team up with them and design an amp together.
After discussing and sharing potential ideas back and forth we sat on a GA-20 Signature - Amp based on Matt's 1960 5E3 Tweed Deluxe.
That amp, being a transitional model, is a special one! It came from the factory with a 6G3 Brown Deluxe style power transformer. This is a much bigger transformer, with more current capacity on the B+ winding, etc.
Matt and Cody also wanted more headroom and more of a gradual sweep on the volume controls.
It took a while to tune it just right!
The GA-20 Signature - Amp sounds fat, clear, has bite and more headroom than a 5E3 but it retains that soft feel of a vintage Tweed Deluxe.
